Join us on Tuesday November 25th to celebrate the Holiday Season.
The Cheshire Historical Society is creating a page on their website dedicated to the
Vietnam War. They already have a sub-page dedicated to Barney Barnum, which is tied to
his Medal of Honor, as well as information on the two battlefield casualties from Cheshire,
John Gravil and Gary Richards, and deceased Vietnam veteran Marty Cannata.
They would like to acknowledge as many of the town’s veterans as possible, even if they
can only list their names. If you served in Vietnam and are from Cheshire, or know of
someone, please reach out to Mitzi Romano, President, The Cheshire Historical Society at
(203) 272-2574. They would like to have this up and running by Veterans Day.
Veterans Awareness Day – TIMELY RESPONSE NEEDED Veterans
FINAL CALL for the November 5th “Veterans Awareness Day 2025”. The Hamden
Veterans Commission coordinators are asking for a final headcount so we can book tables
needed for any AAFRC members wishing to staff a table and present anything relating to
yours, or a family member’s, military history. These displays can be any items, articles,
uniforms, pictures of their service. The 400+ students who attend will have a treasure
map to give them incentive to stop by all the tables and get answers. It is a great way to
interact with students on veteran experiences or causes. As always, a catered lunch will
be provided following the event taking place at Hamden Middle School.
Please email Leslie at lesliem@snet.net or call 203-631-7762 ASAP if you plan on
attending with any displays so we can confirm with the Hamden Veterans Commission.
